Kambi to Take Over FDJ Group’s Sports Betting Partnership with OLG

After FDJ Group decided to shift its contractual role, Kambi Group is expected to take over as the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) new sports betting partner. A contract novation process has been agreed to by all three parties, subject to regulatory approvals.

Kambi CEO Werner Becher expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “The prospect of partnering with an organization of the size and stature of OLG is an exciting one for Kambi and we are working diligently to complete the novation process with FDJ and launch later this year.”

With Ontario’s online sports betting market being highly competitive, Kambi aims to help OLG’s PROLINE brand strengthen its market position. “Ontario has a competitive online market, but I believe a combination of OLG and Kambi will see PROLINE rightly compete with market leaders while continuing to raise the bar of its retail product,” Becher added.

Multi-Channel Expansion and Future Plans

Kambi will assume FDJ’s present contractual responsibilities with OLG, which currently run through 2032, after the novation procedure is complete. Kambi must, however, make a large upfront expenditure in order to make this shift. Since this expense is one-time, the company has guaranteed that it will not affect its operating budget guidance for the entire year 2025.

Under the PROLINE brand, OLG provides sports betting services both online and at over 10,000 physical sites throughout Ontario. Every penny made by OLG’s operations is put back into the province.

OLG was the only authorized supplier of online gaming and sports betting in Ontario prior to the market’s regulation in April 2022. Kambi thinks that OLG’s market position will be strengthened by its strong presence, PROLINE’s brand, and Kambi’s sportsbook technology.

With all parties striving to meet the requirements as quickly as possible, the shift is anticipated to be finished by the second half of 2025.
