Kambi Group, a renowned sports betting technology supplier, has announced a partnership with Eyas Gaming and Brazilian football media website Lance! to develop a new online sportsbook in Brazil. Kambi will power the ‘Lance! Betting’ brand with cutting-edge sports betting technology as part of the agreement.
Lance!, which has over 15 million active users per month, will be used to power the new sportsbook. Eyas Gaming, with cooperation from the Gauselmann Group, will be in charge of the brand’s operations. According to Kambi, the relationship between Kambi and Eyas Gaming has the potential to extend into additional areas in the future.
Kristian Nylén, CEO of Kambi, expressed his delight in signing the arrangement with Eyas Gaming, praising their experience and passion for sports betting. He feels the collaboration improves Kambi’s footprint in Brazil and Latin America, opening up new chances for growth and success.
Eyas Gaming CEO Adam Joseph mirrored Nylén’s thoughts, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with Kambi. Given Kambi’s solid track record in Latin America and its high-performance technology stack, Joseph sees the relationship as a logical fit.
While Kambi has previously stated its intention to expand in Brazil, the company has been hampered by regulatory hurdles in the country. However, the Brazilian government recently launched a provisional wagering law in May, taking a key step toward legalizing betting. Licensed operators will face a 16% tax on gross gaming revenue, with the proceeds going toward public health initiatives and anti-match fixing measures. Furthermore, winners will be subject to a 30% income tax, with a ceiling of R$2,112.
Brazil’s Ministry of Finance will be in charge of regulating sports betting, as well as overseeing advertising restrictions and enforcing fines for violators. Certain restrictions will apply, including a prohibition on making bets by anyone under the age of 18, athletes, and bookmaker staff.
The collaboration with Kambi signifies a pivotal moment for Eyas Gaming. Initially focused on the German iGaming market, the company has altered its ambitions in response to the industry’s severe regulatory requirements.
