After the release of the company’s Q2 earnings on July 25, Werner Becher is scheduled to take over as CEO of Kambi. He takes over for Kristian Nylén, who oversaw the supplier since Kindred Group’s 2010 spin-off.
Becher is extremely experienced; at Sportradar, he most recently held the position of CEO for EMEA and LatAm. During his employment, he served as the managing director of Sportradar’s betting segment for the US market. Before that, Becher started the IT consulting firms Cob@Web and Adesso Austria and served as CEO of Interwetten for seven years.
Kambi is going through a transitional phase, moving away from a single product approach and toward a modular structure, under Becher’s direction. This plan comprises units like Shape Games, which offers front-end solutions, Abios, which offers esports capabilities, and Tzeract, an AI-powered trading arm that will debut in 2023.
The progression mirrors shifts in the dynamics among sportsbook suppliers, as operators are progressively aiming to take control of their technological stacks. Kambi’s strategic shift is intended to increase its customer base while preserving its alliances with leading industry names.
Chairman Anders Ström lauded Becher as the ideal successor to Nylén, citing his industry experience, entrepreneurial drive, and strategic foresight. Becher expressed enthusiasm for his new role, emphasizing Kambi’s ongoing expansion and commitment to innovation.
“I am honored to lead Kambi at this pivotal moment,” Becher remarked. “Together with our team, I look forward to seizing the opportunities ahead and driving our business to new heights.”
