Joint Committee Unites British, Irish, and Japanese Horse Racing

Share

Regulating organizations from Britain, Ireland, and Japan have united to create the Joint collaboration Committee, a step that indicates international collaboration and the deepening of relations within the horse racing industry.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA), Horse Racing Ireland, and the Japan Racing Association (JRA) have formed the Joint Cooperation Committee, a novel cooperative effort. Together, these alliances hope to accomplish a number of goals, such as promoting Japanese race horses worldwide and easing travel between these disparate racing locales.

Along with increasing knowledge of the horse racing business inside each participating location, the committee also aims to raise awareness outside of the racetrack. Developing a regulatory partnership that promotes an environment that is favorable to collaboration is another important area of effort. By removing obstacles and broadening the sport’s worldwide reach, the ultimate objective is to “further internationalize” horse racing.

The Joint Cooperation Committee will be headed by Joe Saumarez Smith, the BHA Chairman. He noted the long-standing good connection between the horse racing industry in Britain and Ireland and their Japanese equivalents when reflecting on the collaboration. Saumarez Smith expressed appreciation for the JRA’s significant support and said that they saw this partnership as a way to boost attendance at each other’s races, which in turn raised fan attention and brought in additional income.

He stated, “We are delighted to be collaborating with the JRA and are hugely grateful for their significant support. This can only lead to increased participation in each other’s racing, resulting in deeper fan engagement and increased and new revenues.”
