In a promising development for cycling enthusiasts and charitable individuals alike, Flutter Entertainment announces its three-year headline partnership with Cure Leukaemia. The partnership will span the 2023, 2024, and 2025 editions of the flagship fundraising event, ‘The Tour 21.’
‘The Tour 21’ is an exciting event held a week prior to the professional Tour De France race. It features 20 amateur cyclists who aim to complete all 21 stages of the famed Tour de France, covering a distance of over 3,000km. The 2023 edition is set to kick off on Saturday, June 24th in Bilbao, and concludes in the heart of Paris on Sunday, July 16th.
The fundraising goal of ‘The Tour 21’ is ambitious: raise £1million for Cure Leukaemia’s Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP). The TAP network covers an area reaching over 20 million people, offering access to potentially lifesaving treatments beyond standard care. Funds raised go directly to financing specialist research nurses and other clinical roles, with a yearly operating cost exceeding £1million. Their pivotal work helps to deliver groundbreaking treatments for blood cancer, a disease diagnosed in someone globally every 27 seconds.
Flutter Entertainment’s involvement with ‘The Tour 21’ falls under its Positive Impact Plan. This plan sees the company leveraging the strength of sport, the dedication of its employees, and the reach of its brands to create meaningful change in global communities. The ultimate aim is to improve the lives of 10 million people by December 2030, and this collaboration with Cure Leukaemia forms part of that goal.
