As to a recent report from Bloomberg, FanDuel, a prominent sports betting provider, is close to finalizing a significant branding agreement with Diamond Sports Group.
Under the upcoming arrangement, Diamond Sports Group—which now owns eighteen regional pay-TV networks—may soon witness the supremacy of FanDuel’s branding.
Insiders familiar with the negotiations hinted that the deal, spanning multiple years, might also encompass “FanDuel-related programming for the channels.”
While the specifics of the agreement are yet to be ironed out, the parties involved are in the final stages of hammering out the terms, according to the report.
In a separate development, the Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has appointed FanDuel as the new sports wagering subcontractor for Intralot. Under this arrangement, FanDuel has rolled out its sports wagering app to players in Washington DC, marking a significant stride in expanding its market reach.
Players can now access FanDuel’s comprehensive suite of offerings, including its website and retail platforms.
Both FanDuel and the OLG are optimistic that this partnership will yield immediate financial gains for the DC area. As part of the deal, Intralot is set to shell out an initial $5 million fee during the 2024 fiscal year.
Furthermore, Intralot will take on OLG’s current operating expenses related to sports wagering in an effort to save further money that may be used to increase income for the District’s general budget. The District will then be able to devote funds to important initiatives as a result.
The main company of FanDuel Group, Flutter, is a strong force in the US market and oversees the group’s operations. Rob Coldrake was most recently named Group CFO by the Irish company Flutter.
In 2020, Coldrake joined the firm as its CFO, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge with him from his time as Flutter International’s CFO.
