Disturbing Pattern Emerges as Churchill Downs Records 12th Horse Death

The 12th death of a horse since April 27 has occurred at Churchill Downs in Louisville, which is a tragic turn of events. This depressing incident continued for a second day in a row, throwing a gloomy pall over the illustrious racecourse.

Sadly, Kimberley Dream, who was taking part in her 61st race, was put down after pulling up in the top stretch of Saturday’s first race. The track’s administrators verified that she had a ruptured ligament in her left front leg that could not be repaired, making any medical treatment useless.

The tragic tragedy involving Lost in Limbo, who stumbled and fell during Friday’s seventh race before passing away from his injuries, was followed by the news of Kimberley Dream’s passing. A video obtained from PETA catches the tragic incident as an ambulance pulls up to the location, where workers cover the injured horse with a drape to indicate that death is necessary. Seven-year-old horse Lost in Limbo, who was taking part in his 35th race, suffered a tragic demise.

It’s important to remember that Kimberley Dream had a string of failures in her previous five races, regularly coming in well behind her rivals by a wide margin, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Seven horses have passed away, either from racing-related injuries or unexpected collapses, between April 27 and the Kentucky Derby on May 6. Two of these fatalities happened during the Kentucky Derby preliminaries, while Wild on Ice, another horse entered in the race won by Mage, was supposed to run. Five further fatalities have been reported following races at Churchill Downs since that time.
