The most recent sports betting data for April has been made public by the Colorado Division of Gaming, which is a division of the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR).
Colorado has had more than $500 million in sports wagering transactions for eight straight months. The state continued this trend in April, when its total handling topped $509 million.
Online sports betting dominated April’s total handle, accounting for nearly $475 million, while retail locations contributed $2.5 million in bets. Colorado players celebrated significant wins, totaling over $477 million.
With more than $169 million wagered, basketball has become the most popular sport among Colorado gamblers. Baseball and parlays were two more popular options, with wagers reaching $85.8 million and $105 million, respectively.
Even though April’s income was above $32 million, it was 8.9% less than it was for the same time in 2023. The amount of taxes collected throughout the month was more than $1.9 million.
The total amount wagered in the year was $2.24 billion, an increase of 18.7% over the previous year. Four years after it was founded, Colorado’s regulated sports wagering industry is still thriving in the face of a nationwide trend toward legalizing sports betting.
