The Colorado sports betting market hit a major milestone in September, with total wagers reaching nearly $563 million, according to the Colorado Division of Gaming. This continues a steady trend of high monthly betting handles, consistently surpassing $500 million.

Online betting made up the vast majority of this figure, generating close to $558 million, while retail locations contributed over $4.8 million. Colorado bettors had a successful month, with winnings totaling around $508 million. Online bettors took home nearly $503.4 million, and those placing bets at retail outlets collected almost $4.4 million in winnings.

Football dominated as the top choice among bettors, with wagers on professional games totaling $173 million. Other popular choices included parlays, bringing in $135 million in bets, and baseball, which saw wagers amounting to $69 million.

Since the Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on sports betting in 2018, over 35 states have legalized and regulated sports wagering. Colorado has become one of the more active markets in the country, consistently seeing strong monthly betting volumes.

Sports betting in September also proved profitable for the state. The industry generated over $55 million in revenue, with online betting accounting for most of it—about $54.6 million. Retail betting brought in the remaining $464,498. In terms of tax revenue, Colorado collected over $4 million from sports betting activities for the month
