According to an article by the Wall Street Journal, Cantor Gaming and its founder Lee Amaitis, seem to be the center of attention of a US Federal investigation over suspicion of accepting illegal sports bets. The article also mentions that claims were brought forth when Michael Colbert, a colleague of Amaitis, pleaded guilty to voluntarily accepting illegal bets.
Charges have been lodged by Federal prosecutors in New York against Mr. Colbert for knowingly accepting bets from illegal gambling rings. Mr Colbert is now helping law enforcement with the investigation which might compromise the highest levels of Cantor Gaming’s chain of command.
