Brazil is developing a new responsible gambling measure that could reshape how players manage their betting activity. The federal government is working on a centralized tool that will allow individuals to close all accounts across licensed platforms at once.
Good to know
At present, each licensed operator in Brazil provides its own self-exclusion option. The upcoming system, however, will unify this into a single national framework. Once a person activates the tool, every account they hold with regulated companies will close simultaneously. The ban will also stop operators from sending promotional material to those individuals.
The Ministry of Finance’s Secretary of Prizes and Betting (SPA) said the goal is to reduce both social and health risks connected to gambling, while giving regulators a clearer overview of the market.
The new exclusion system is part of a broader government strategy to address gambling-related harm. The working group driving the initiative includes the Ministries of Finance, Health, and Sport, as well as the Secretary for Communications.
The Ministry of Health is also preparing to train professionals within the national Unified Health System so they can provide specialized treatment for problem gambling cases. This investment is meant to strengthen care pathways while prevention tools are rolled out.
Earlier this week, the SPA revealed that thousands of unlicensed betting domains were blocked in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Agency. Officials say enforcement will continue alongside player protection policies to create a safer regulated environment.
