Betclic, a French online gambling and sports betting company, has strengthened its presence in Portugal by becoming the official title sponsor of Liga Portugal. Betclic’s most major step in the country, the arrangement will greatly increase its presence. Liga Portugal will be rebranded Liga Portugal Betclic as part of the sponsorship, showing the operator’s logo across the league and numerous marketing platforms.
Liga Portugal is the country’s main football league, so the collaboration is significant for Betclic. The sponsorship will last until 2027, giving the operator plenty of time to connect with local bettors and create a strong presence in the Portuguese market. The agreement was arranged by IMG, an international sports agency, with Betclic replacing Entain’s Bwin brand as Liga Portugal’s naming rights partner.
In addition to its league sponsorship, Betclic has agreed to work with the Liga Portugal Foundation on many corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. The operator intends to support safer gambling initiatives that prioritize Portuguese users’ well-being and promote responsible gambling practices.
Representatives from Liga Portugal and Betclic both expressed excitement about their collaboration. Pedro Proença, president of Liga Portugal, welcomed Betclic as a league sponsor, emphasising the honour of collaborating with such a well-known betting company. Proença emphasized Betclic and Liga Portugal’s common vision and ambition in promoting Portuguese football, noting that the league is happy to be known as “Liga Portugal Betclic.”
Betclic’s head of foreign markets, Ricardo Domingues, also expressed optimism about the sponsorship contract. In accepting the title sponsorship of Portugal’s primary championship, he expressed pride and a sense of duty. Domingues emphasized Betclic and Liga Portugal’s shared ideals, emphasizing their shared dedication to the development of professional Portuguese football and the happiness of football fans, sportsmen, and clubs.
Betclic’s sponsorship of Liga Portugal follows its recent relationship as the official partner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in Portugal, France, and Poland. These relationships demonstrate Betclic’s commitment to supporting professional sports and expanding its footprint in crucial countries.
