North Star Network is making a strong push into basketball coverage by acquiring two well-known platforms in the French-speaking market. The global sports media company confirmed that both BasketUSA.com and BasketEurope.com are now part of its growing portfolio.
Good to know
Both platforms bring years of experience and strong audiences to North Star Network (NSN), which is aiming to strengthen its international presence. Rather than overhaul the existing operations, NSN plans to let both editorial teams continue their work as usual—something that was a key part of the agreement.
BasketUSA’s founder Fabrice Auclert welcomed the deal, saying, “After more than 25 years of independence, finding a partner that could grow the brand while respecting its DNA was crucial, so we can stay focused on what we do best: journalism. North Star won us over with its professionalism and long-term vision.”
NSN views the acquisition as a major step forward in its strategy. The group wants to become a global force in sports media and sees strong, respected basketball platforms as the right way to enter a key market.
Yann Decoopman, co-founder of NSN, said, “We are proud to welcome BasketUSA and BasketEurope into the North Star family. Their editorial expertise, loyal audience, and deep passion for basketball are a perfect fit for our vision.”
The two brands serve slightly different audiences. BasketUSA has focused on NBA news and global basketball since its launch in 1998. Meanwhile, BasketEurope, founded in 2010, has carved out a strong position as a go-to source for professional basketball news in France and across Europe.
Maxime Weber, Director of BasketEurope, said, “This partnership with North Star Network marks a new chapter for BasketEurope. It’s a great opportunity to continue our mission within an international framework, while preserving our editorial standards.”
