Jack Dorsey Donates 14 BTC to Social Media Protocol ‘Nostr’

Jack Dorsey contributed around 14 Bitcoin (BTC) (approximately $245,000) to the creation of Nostr (short for Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays).

Following the announcement that Jack Dorsey will give $1 million per year to the encrypted messaging app Signal, Koty Auditore turned to Twitter to ask Dorsey to finance Nostr, following a blog post in which Dorsey discussed the necessity for a native internet protocol for social media.

Two hours later, Dorsey responded to the tweet, stating he was “figuring out how to accomplish it.” He then sent cash to developer fiatjaf around 24 hours later.

Dorsey left Twitter as CEO in November of 2021 to fully focus on Bitcoin and it use cases. He remained on as head of Block nevertheless, formerly known as Square.
