John Deaton, a cryptocurrency lawyer, has offered to defend US retail token holders in response to the Financial Services GOP's notice of the next Congressional hearing on Capital Markets and Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusion. Deaton, who gained notoriety for his role in the Ripple Labs and XRP lawsuit against the SEC, says he would be happy to testify on behalf of retail token holders and defend their rights. SEC Chairman Gary Gensler's objectives are questioned by Deaton, who highlights that Gensler does not put the interests of small investors first. Furthermore, he highlights how the crypto community is being negatively impacted by regulatory steps taken by the Biden administration and anti-crypto legislation introduced by Senator Elizabeth Warren. "If you want someone to testify who actually represents the interests of token holders – not crypto companies – and who has taken on the SEC and who’s helped expose just how much Gary Gensler does NOT protect investors – I volunteer my services," says Deaton. Legal Track Record and Advocacy Deaton uses his representation of 75,000 XRP investors in the Ripple lawsuit and his involvement as amicus counsel in the LBRY.com case to highlight his experience. In connection with the SEC's litigation against Coinbase, he also speaks of representing more than 5,000 Coinbase clients. The absurdity of the SEC accepting Coinbase's IPO and then suing the firm two years later, alleging that its whole business model is unlawful, is highlighted by Deaton. "If you want the American public to learn what Gary Gensler and the Biden/Warren Administration is doing to harm everyday regular Americans, let me know," asserts Deaton, underlining his commitment to exposing the potential repercussions of regulatory decisions on ordinary citizens.
