Gemini cryptocurrency exchange now supports Apple Pay and Google Pay

New York-based crypto exchange Gemini has announced that its users around the world can now use Apple Pay and Google Pay to purchase crypto.

Regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS), the 16th largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world has an average daily trading volume of $474 million. This according to CoinMarketCap data. The exchange currently holds over $25 billion of cryptocurrency in custody for its customers.

Gemini is headed by the Winklevoss twins, Tyler and Cameron. The two founded Gemini back in 2014.

Users that would like to purchase crypto directly from Gemini can now nominate their debit cards to either their Apple Pay or Google Pay accounts. Funds will become available for withdrawal an hour after purchase.

Gemini did not yet share the exact amount of processing and transaction fees related to the new payment options. The platform currently retains 3.49% of the total purchase amount from deposits made via debit card. Direct (bank)transfers and crypto-to-crypto deposits remain free of charge.

By offering Apple Pay and Google Pay, the exchange is delivering on customer experience by offering simpler transactions that are mobile friendly. The new payment options are available for over 30 cryptocurrencies supported on Gemini, including major coins like Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). A month ago, the exchange completed its line-up of coins by adding seven to the list.
