Always look on the bright side of NFT; John Cleese auctions an iPad drawing

Share

For those who have been wondering, what is John Cleese doing these days? Well, here we go.

The Monty Python star has clearly not lost his sense of humor and is auctioning an iPad drawing of the Brooklyn Bridge on the Opensea platform.

Cleese made the announcement on Twitter this Friday, referring to the recent $69 million sale of Beeple’s artwork:

“Hello! It is time you meet my alter ego “Unnamed Artist” I’m delighted to offer you the opportunity of a lifetime. I’m selling my 1st NFT. Though bidding starts at 100.00, you can “BUY IT NOW” for 69,346,250.50!”

It is very likely that Cleese’s drawing is mocking an NFT called ‘Bridge for sale’ that is also listed for auction on OpenSea by its creator gcp-nyc.

In the video that joined the tweet, Cleese said:

“All you need to know about me is that I am a young, unknown, digital artist.”

He then further “jokingly” explained how his ‘Brooklyn Bridge’ acts as a bridge between the past and future perceptions (of art appreciation).

Being a practical joke or not, the NFT has a current leading bid of $50,000 made by ‘Cerwyn’.
