MLB Oakland Athletics offering full-season suites for 1 Bitcoin

Share

On Sunday, MLB Oakland Athletics have announced that fans can now purchase a one six-person suite at their Oakland Coliseum for the 2021 season for exactly 1 Bitcoin.

Inevitably this means that the price of a full-season suite will vary depending on Bitcoin price.  As of the A’s announcement this Sunday, the price was just below $60,000.

The A’s are now the first MLB franchise to price its tickets in crypto. Fans have until April 1 to take the team up on its offer after which tickets will be priced in US$ based on number of games left in the season.

In a statement, Oakland Athletics Team President Dave Kaval said:

“We invite our fans to become the first Bitcoin suite holders in sports. We’re excited to be one of a handful of teams to accept cryptocurrency for payment and the first to price tickets in crypto instead of US currency. Suites are the perfect way for groups who want to safely socially distance themselves from other fans to enjoy A’s baseball this season.”

“Great idea. On it”

There are already some major sports teams that accept Bitcoin. For example, the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings are accepting Bitcoin for tickets and merchandise. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban even being a fan of the playful DOGE.
