Mark Cuban on Cryptos, NFTs, and Musk in Interactive Q&A

Share

Well known American businessman and TV personality, Mark Cuban, recently held an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on the X platform, engaging with a wide audience on various topics in the cryptocurrency world. During this interactive session, Cuban highlighted his nuanced stance on cryptocurrency, emphasizing the importance of practical utility over mere speculation. He stated, “I hate the speculation but love when there is utility,” pointing out his preference for projects with real-world applications.

This perspective extends to his view on blockchain technology. Cuban sees its potential but notes two main issues: the oversaturation of blockchains and the lack of indispensable applications for all generations.

Cuban’s Investment Interests and Thoughts on NFTs

Shifting focus to his personal investments, Cuban expressed interest in specific crypto projects like Polygon (MATIC) and Injective (INJ). He mentioned his investment in Injective, sharing his optimistic outlook with a simple, “I hope they do well.” Cuban also shared his involvement in the Doge community, revealing that The Dallas Mavericks, the NBA team he owns, continues to accept Dogecoin as a payment method.

His approach to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) is also noteworthy. Cuban views NFTs mainly as collectibles and advises purchasing them for their collecting value rather than for speculative purposes. However, he acknowledged the challenges in selling NFTs, citing a lack of compelling reasons for their trade.

Cuban had said back in 2022 that play-to-earn game Axie Infinity was among one of his favorite investments.

Artificial Intelligence and Relationship with Elon Musk

Cuban also provided insights into the future of emerging technologies. He believes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be the most influential technology in the next decade, reshaping entrepreneurship. He stated, “There will be two types of companies in the USA. Those who are great at AI and everyone else.” This again underscores Cuban’s belief in the transformative power of AI.

Lastly, when questioned about his relationship with X platform owner and Tesla founder Elon Musk, Cuban kept his response light and humorous: “I don’t not get along with him. I don’t know him. He likes to talk shit on here and so do I.”
