Jaguars’ Lawrence, Nash, and Paffrath Settle Lawsuit on FTX Sponsorships

AS reported by Bloomber, three popular figures, Trevor Lawrence, Tom Nash, and Kevin Paffrath, have recently settled legal disputes tied to sponsorship agreements with FTX, the cryptocurrency exchange that went under last year.

Jacksonville Jaguars’ NFL quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, had a partnership with Blockfolio, FTX’s subsidiary, back in 2021. This deal brought him $205,555.35, as revealed in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court filing. “When it comes to my crypto portfolio, I wanted a long-term partner in the space that I could trust,” Lawrence mentioned during the time of the agreement. Yet, post-settlement, he has not addressed the Bloomberg news or given further comments.

Nash, a YouTube influencer boasting over 250,000 subscribers, faced a class-action lawsuit spearheaded by the Moskowitz Law Firm earlier this year. The suit accused Nash and other influencers of endorsing FTX. Following the collapse of FTX, the complaint claims that Nash and others deleted content that promoted FTX and its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried. Surprisingly, due to Nash’s initial non-response to the lawsuit, Moskowitz tried to serve the lawsuit via a tweet, considering Nash’s Australian citizenship.

Kevin Paffrath, the face behind the ‘Meet Kevin’ YouTube channel with nearly 2 million subscribers, publicly admitted his past sponsorship with FTX in a video from November 2022, terming it a “scar” of regret. Subsequent to being named in the Moskowitz lawsuit in March, Paffrath openly criticized Sam Bankman-Fried for the FTX scandal and found claims of influencers being part of FTX’s losses as “ludicrous.”

This is not just about these three. A myriad of celebrities, including Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Shaquille O’Neill, and Naomi Osaka, who had affiliations with FTX, now find themselves in the legal crosshairs post the platform’s downfall.
