In an X post on June 23, Ronaldinho declared it was time for cryptocurrency to “go mainstream,” urging his followers to join him. However, this announcement quickly drew criticism from the crypto community, including on-chain investigator ZachXBT.

ZachXBT questioned Ronaldinho’s intentions, suggesting the post might indicate financial troubles. He reminded the public of Ronaldinho’s controversial past in the crypto world, accusing him of participating in several pump-and-dump schemes.

A screenshot with ZachXBT’s post listed multiple crypto projects Ronaldinho had promoted, such as World Cup Inu (WCI), Atari Chain, Lord Society NFT, and the meme coin Baby Doge.

A Controversial Past

Ronaldinho’s previous ventures into cryptocurrency were marred by scandal, notably the “18kRonaldinho” incident. This scheme, allegedly a $61 million pyramid operation, falsely advertised 2% daily returns on crypto investments, using Ronaldinho’s name and image to gain credibility.
