Coinbase has taken another step in its Latin American development with the official approval to extend its services in Argentina. The business declared on Tuesday that the National Securities Commission (CNV) of Argentina had granted it Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration.
Coinbase may now lawfully operate and provide cryptocurrency services in Argentina, a nation where digital assets have become increasingly popular, according to the governmental license. The startup wants to offer local users safe and legal crypto solutions.
This move aligns with Coinbase’s mission to promote economic freedom worldwide. In 2023, the exchange made its Latin American debut in Brazil, strengthening its foothold in the region.
Due to worries about inflation and economic instability, cryptocurrency adoption in Argentina is still on the rise. Coinbase estimates that 5 million Argentineans use cryptocurrency on a daily basis, and 76% of adults think that digital assets can assist alleviate financial difficulties including high transaction fees and growing inflation.
Coinbase has hired Matías Alberti, a seasoned fintech expert with prior experience at Buenbit and Clara, to oversee its operations in Argentina.
