Diamond Sports Group (DSG) has formed a significant partnership with FanDuel that will lead to a major rebranding initiative for Bally Sports. As of October 21, all regional sports networks (RSNs) owned by Diamond will officially be renamed the FanDuel Sports Network. This collaboration marks a strategic move to enhance the sports viewing experience for fans.
Under this new agreement, FanDuel will gain exclusive rights to name Diamond’s 16 RSNs along with its digital platforms, including a direct-to-consumer (DTC) offering. This partnership will also provide media integration and placement opportunities during live broadcasts of NBA, NHL, and MLB games across the FanDuel Sports Network.
David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond, stated, “Collaborating with FanDuel provides a tremendous pathway for Diamond to elevate the fan experience and deepen the incremental value we provide for our team, league, and distribution partners.” He emphasized the importance of enhancing local connections with fans through this collaboration, aiming to enrich their DTC offering for a growing digital audience.
The partnership will aim to develop a streamlined DTC app experience. This integration will allow for the syndication of FanDuel TV programming across the regional networks. Furthermore, FanDuel is set to act as a reseller for Diamond’s DTC product, enhancing both the economic and equity aspects of their partnership.
FanDuel’s President of Sports, Mike Raffensperger, shared his excitement about the collaboration. “Partnering with Diamond provides us an opportunity to put the FanDuel brand at the intersection of the nation’s largest group of regional sports networks,” he remarked. Raffensperger noted that many FanDuel customers are also dedicated viewers of RSNs. He added that this agreement will further cement the FanDuel brand with sports fans and offer a unique platform to reward users.
The rebranded FanDuel Sports Network will feature regional channels, including FanDuel Sports Network Detroit, FanDuel Sports Network Florida, and FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, among others. As this partnership evolves, additional announcements and collaborations are expected in the near future.
