Sportradar data for 2025 suggests global match fixing activity has levelled off, even as monitoring systems and enforcement efforts continue to expand across sports and regions.
Good to Know
More than one million sporting events fell under review in 2025 as Sportradar Group tracked betting patterns and competition data across 70 sports. From that sample, analysts identified 1,116 suspicious matches, representing a 1 percent decline compared with the previous year.
The findings appear in Integrity in Action 2025 Global Analysis and Trends, an annual report outlining developments in monitoring technology, disciplinary action, and integrity education.
While overall numbers eased slightly, distribution shifted across regions. Europe again recorded the highest number of suspicious matches, though cases there dropped by 66 year on year. South America reported 64 fewer cases. Asia, Africa, and North and Central America showed moderate increases, reflecting a more dispersed global pattern.
Soccer continued to account for the largest share of alerts, with 618 suspicious matches detected. Basketball followed with 233 cases. Tennis, table tennis, and cricket registered 78, 65, and 59 cases respectively. The data suggests manipulation risks now spread more evenly across multiple disciplines rather than concentrating in one sport.
Artificial intelligence played a growing role in detection. Sportradar expanded its Universal Fraud Detection System, which analyses betting market movements in real time. AI based detections increased 56 percent compared with 2024, indicating deeper integration of automated risk models.
Enforcement activity also advanced. Sportradar supported 125 sporting sanctions across seven sports and six continents during the year. That pushed the cumulative number of sanctions assisted by the company beyond 1,000. Integrity education initiatives reached more than 34,000 participants, a 25 percent rise year on year.
Andreas Krannich, Executive Vice President of Integrity Services, addressed the broader picture. He said the “relative stabilization of suspicious match numbers” was encouraging but stressed that vigilance must continue.
Sportradar provided integrity services for major competitions during the year, including the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Women EURO. Looking ahead, the company plans to support partners at tournaments in 2026 such as the AFC Women Asian Cup, the FIFA World Cup, and the Olympic Winter Games.
