Kalshi Adds Messi Power To Argentina Prediction Market Deal

Share

Kalshi has put Lionel Messi at the front of its latest sports marketing campaign, using the Argentina captain to promote a World Cup giveaway tied to its new partnership with the Argentine Football Association.

Good to know

  • Messi promoted the Kalshi giveaway on Instagram on Sunday.
  • Prizes include signed jerseys from Lionel Messi, Nicolas Otamendi and Rodrigo De Paul.
  • The deal gives Kalshi access to Argentina colors, crest and official data through Genius Sports.

Messi Gives Kalshi Its Biggest Sports Name Yet

Kalshi has signed athletes across basketball, hockey, golf and women basketball, but Messi takes the exchange into another tier of sports visibility. The Inter Miami star remains the face of Argentina and captained the country to the 2022 World Cup title.

The campaign comes as Argentina begins its World Cup title defense. Kalshi lists Argentina fifth in its winner market at +979, and the team opens against Algeria on Tuesday in Kansas City.

The promotion also lands during a wider boom for sports prediction markets in the United States. Kalshi has leaned into that timing with team deals, athlete partnerships and World Cup activations as regulated event contracts draw more mainstream attention.

“Argentina is the standard of excellence in world football,” Adam Barrick, head of sports partnerships at Kalshi, said. “That’s exactly who Kalshi belongs alongside. We’re building the future of how people engage with live events, and partnering with the reigning champions of the beautiful game is the clearest signal we can send about where we’re headed.”

Argentina Deal Adds Branding And Data Rights

The marketing agreement runs through the World Cup and includes co-branded activations, social media campaigns and use of Argentine Football Association intellectual property.

Kalshi can use Argentina colors and crest in its marketing. Genius Sports, the data and streaming partner of Argentina national team, will also provide data for Kalshi prediction markets.

That data piece matters because prediction markets need reliable settlement sources. Kalshi said official data can reduce reliance on slower or unofficial feeds.

“By using verified official data as a consistent source of truth, the agreement will contribute to enhancing transparency while reducing reliance on unofficial or delayed data sources,” Kalshi said in the statement. “Kalshi will also participate in Genius Sports’ integrity information-sharing processes to strengthen market transparency and provide professional sports leagues with greater visibility into related market activity.”

Kalshi also called the timing useful for the partnership.

“The timing could not be more fitting,” Kalshi said. “The 2026 World Cup is being held on American soil for the first time in 32 years, and prediction markets have never been more mainstream. Fans across the United States now have a legal, regulated platform to put their convictions to the test, and the world’s most followed football team to do it around.”
