Daily fantasy sports (DFS) company PrizePicks celebrated its move to a new headquarters in Atlanta with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp attended the event, calling the expansion a win for Georgia’s economy.
The new 33,000-square-foot office is located in the Star Metals high-rise in West Midtown, a premier office space in Atlanta. Designed to blend the city’s cultural charm with the dynamic energy of a Las Vegas sportsbook, the headquarters features high-top bars and numerous TV screens. PrizePicks CEO Mike Ybarra highlighted the vision: “Imagine you’re in Las Vegas and you see all those screens with games on them. We’re going to mirror that here.”
PrizePicks plans to occupy the space fully by February 2025. The DFS giant has committed to adding 1,000 jobs over the next seven years, reflecting its strong growth trajectory. Known for its popular sports app, PrizePicks allows fans to wager on individual player performances, positioning itself as one of the top operators in the fantasy sports sector.
Mike Ybarra, who took over as CEO in August, emphasized the skill-based nature of DFS. He compared PrizePicks’ users to mutual fund managers: “Daily fantasy sports is very much similar in terms of the lineups, the characteristics, the stats, the knowledge, and the expertise you have to have in order to be successful.”
While PrizePicks thrives, Georgia remains one of the states where sports betting is still illegal. PrizePicks and similar DFS platforms argue they operate legally since their games require skill, not chance. Meanwhile, efforts to legalize sports betting in Georgia have faced repeated opposition, particularly from religious groups.
Supporters of legalization continue to push bills to tax sports betting revenues, with proceeds directed toward education and scholarships. Governor Kemp, however, remains cautious. He stated, “My whole thing is that if we’re going to do something like that, that it does not cannibalize the lottery and the HOPE scholarship.”
With its new headquarters, PrizePicks is cementing its place as a key player in Georgia’s sports-tech scene. The expansion reflects Atlanta’s growing reputation as a hub for technology and sports innovation.
