The NFL has suspended Arizona Cardinals director of college scouting Ryan Gold indefinitely after an investigation into betting and confidential draft information. Gold has the right to appeal.
Good to Know
League investigators found that Gold shared confidential details about Arizona draft selections before the team announced them. The NFL also said he participated in parlay betting on professional and college football.
NFL gambling rules cover players, coaches, executives and other staff. Personnel cannot bet on NFL games, arrange bets through another person or give non-public information to third parties.
“The Gambling Policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling, and from providing third parties non-public information,” the league said. “Although there is no reason to believe the integrity of any NFL game was affected, the League takes any violation of the Gambling Policy with the utmost seriousness.”
Arizona cooperated with the investigation. The league found no indication that other Cardinals employees or players took part.
The team backed the indefinite suspension and described the case as involving one employee.
“The NFL’s policies and expectations for all employees are clear, comprehensive, and consistently communicated,” the team said. “We fully support the league’s decision in this matter, which involves a single employee.”
The case follows a 2025 season in which the NFL issued no gambling suspensions, despite earlier disciplinary cases involving players and team personnel.
