Massachusetts bettors wagered $615.1 million in June, a record for the month. However, sportsbook revenue fell 12% from a year earlier as several major sports results favoured players.
Good to Know
A high betting total did not produce an equally strong revenue month. The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs, while the U.S. men national team won two of three group games. Those results helped keep the Massachusetts sportsbook hold at 9.1%, only the second single digit rate of 2026.
Online sportsbooks produced $55.1 million, equal to 98.7% of statewide revenue. Taxable revenue reached $54.3 million under the Massachusetts 20% online betting tax rate. State collections have now passed $85 million for 2026.
Retail betting performed better on a much smaller scale. The three casino sportsbooks handled $6.2 million and recorded an 11.6% hold. Plainridge Park Casino led that group with a 15.1% win rate.
DraftKings remained far ahead in Massachusetts with $302 million in handle and $27.4 million in revenue. Its wagering total rose by nearly $40 million from June 2025.
FanDuel followed with $154.6 million in bets and $15 million in revenue. Fanatics Sportsbook ranked third by handle at $65.9 million, but its hold stayed below 6%.
| Sportsbook | Handle | Revenue |
| DraftKings | $302 million | $27.4 million |
| FanDuel | $154.6 million | $15 million |
| Fanatics Sportsbook | $65.9 million | $3.9 million |
| BetMGM | $48 million | $4.8 million |
| Caesars | $18.1 million | $2 million |
| theScore Bet | $16.5 million | $1.5 million |
Caesars recorded the best online hold at 11.2%. Bally Bet followed at 11.1%, earning more than $419,000 from $3.8 million in wagers.
July handle may fall below $600 million as the sports calendar slows. Revenue could also face pressure from the Boston Red Sox 15 game winning run between July 3 and July 22, which gave local bettors a long run of favourable results.
