Sports radio in Charlotte just took a new direction. WZGV-AM, once known as “ESPN Charlotte 730 The Game,” has switched things up and rebranded as InsideTheGame.bet. The new name signals a big shift—this station now focuses completely on sports betting.
Good to know
WZGV-AM is partnering with VSiN, The Sports Betting Network, to bring round-the-clock betting coverage to the Charlotte market. VSiN content now fills the 730-AM and 97.5-FM airwaves with insights, live odds reports, and sport-by-sport betting breakdowns.
Mario Washington, General Manager of WZGV-AM, sees the rebrand as more than just a name change:
“This new format is unlike anything in the market. Leveraging premier sports betting content from VSiN, WZGV-AM InsideTheGame.bet will be Charlotte’s sports information station. With the gold standard in sports betting content, we can give listeners the real-time news and analysis they need to make more informed wagers – straight from the sports betting capital of the world in Las Vegas.”
The move also ties into North Carolina’s growing betting market. Online sportsbooks officially launched across the state in March 2024, opening the door for more sports betting media and tools for bettors. VSiN’s expansion into Charlotte—ranked as the 25th largest media market in the U.S.—gives the network an even bigger footprint.
VSiN now works with 350 radio affiliates in 46 states, putting their betting coverage within reach of nearly 90% of U.S. radio listeners. The Charlotte expansion supports their wider goal of offering everyday sports fans better betting tools and information.
InsideTheGame.bet carries live and recorded programming covering football, basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, and both college and pro leagues. By focusing fully on the sports betting side of things, the station aims to meet growing interest among Carolina bettors looking for more than just game recaps or highlight reels.
