Dubai’s Super Saturday Sees Significant Increase in World Pool Turnover

Dubai’s Super Saturday gathering held at Meydan racecourse proved to be a grand success as the World Pool’s globally commingled turnover reached HK$224,802,517 (approximately $28.6m) across eight exhilarating races, marking an increase of HK$18.9m (approximately $2.4m) from last year’s figures.

Out of the eight races, the Ras Al Khor conditions race witnessed the most significant turnover with pari-mutuel organizations from over 20 countries contributing to the HK$33,518,763 (approximately $4.3m) bet on the contest, which was won by Godolphin’s Al Suhail.

The G1 Jebel Hatta and the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge R3 were the two G1 races that witnessed turnover exceeding HK$30m. The G1 Jebel Hatta saw HK$33,366,784 (approximately $4.3m) bet on it, while the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge R3 contributed HK$31,560,463 (approximately $4m) to the total turnover on that day.

The winner of the Al Maktoum Challenge R3, Salute The Soldier, trained by Bhupat Seemar, won the title for the second time, making him the fourth World Pool Moment of the Day winner for 2023. The groom of the eight-year-old horse received HK$40,000 as well as entry into the World Pool Moment of the Year competition.

Bheekh Singh, the groom of Salute The Soldier, expressed his happiness and said, “I’m delighted! This is a big amount of money for me, and it will help with a lot of things. We work so hard, we love our horses, and it’s great that the World Pool is rewarding that.”

He added, “Salute The Soldier is a legend. I’ve been his groom since 2019, and hopefully, we have many more big days ahead.”
