Charles Barkley Says Live on Air FanDuel Limits Force Him to Use Bookie

Charles Barkley says he still needs a side bookie, even with legal sports betting available in 38 U.S. states. During a TruTV broadcast of Game 2 between the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes, Barkley admitted, “FanDuel only lets me bet so much, so I got to have a bookie on the side.”

Barkley, a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan, revealed he had bet on them to win Game 7 against Florida. The Panthers crushed Toronto 6-1, knocking them out of the playoffs yet again. “I thought when they got back to Toronto for Game 7, (a Maple Leafs win) is a lock,” Barkley said. “That’s what I told my bookie.”

The segment turned humorous as co-hosts Paul Bissonnette and Will Arnett joked about needing their own bookie too.

Barkley has spoken before about his gambling history, once claiming he lost over $25 million. He stepped away from betting for two years, saying he used to chase huge wins, never satisfied with small bets.
