BetMGM Partners with Newcastle United for UK Market Entry

BetMGM, the online gambling arm of MGM Resorts International, is marking its UK debut by teaming up with Newcastle United FC, a prominent soccer team. This partnership entails BetMGM becoming the official club partner for the 2023/24 soccer season. This means fans visiting St. James’ Park, Newcastle United’s home ground, will see the BetMGM brand prominently displayed.

The online gambling firm is not new to high-profile partnerships. Its track record includes numerous deals with top-tier teams and well-known personalities. Currently, they’re making headlines with one of the UK’s largest jackpots at £15.4 million (or about $18.7 million).

To make their UK launch smooth, BetMGM got a boost from Kambi Group. Kambi equipped BetMGM with the latest in sports betting tech, including the Bet Builder solution and AI-driven trading tools.

Peter Silverstone, who heads commercial operations for Newcastle United, spoke warmly of this collaboration. He highlighted BetMGM’s existing connections to Newcastle, given their UK office’s location in the city. This, he believes, makes the partnership even more special. “BetMGM knows our region, understands Newcastle United, and has a good feel for our dedicated fans,” Silverstone mentioned.

“We are very pleased to be taking this step together and I’d like to welcome BetMGM to our growing family of partners,” Peter Silverstone, CCO of Newcastle United, said.

Sam Behar, who directs BetMGM’s UK operations, expressed equal enthusiasm. He acknowledged Newcastle United’s notable achievements, calling it a “golden moment” for the club and its fans. Behar sees the alliance as a mutual benefit, saying, “BetMGM is excited to be the official partner for Newcastle United this season. Our entry into the UK is made even more special by associating with a team like Newcastle United, known for its ambition.”

This weekend, BetMGM launched its UK campaign, kicking off with Chris Rock making an appearance in a series of ads.
