With a sports betting handle of around $68.5 million in January, Washington, D.C., had a great start to 2025. Additionally, players in the district won more than $65.2 million, giving sportsbooks a monthly revenue of approximately $8 million. Due to its affiliation with the DC Lottery, FanDuel was the only mobile sportsbook accessible in D.C. for the most of the previous year. More operators can now enter the market, though, according to recent developments. A budget that increased the number of sportsbooks that may obtain licenses was passed by the municipal council in the middle of July. Several major operators have since launched, including Fanatics, DraftKings, Caesars, and BetMGM. Despite increased competition, FanDuel remained the top performer, generating $6 million in revenue last month. DraftKings and BetMGM Secure Key Positions With $2 million in revenue, DraftKings was the second-highest earner among newcomers in January. With a total of $500,000, BetMGM came in third. D.C.'s betting market is expanding as a result of the increased number of sportsbooks available, giving bettors more options and boosting operator competition. Industry observers predict that as new platforms broaden their reach in 2025, market share will continue to change.
