Sports Illustrated is making a bold move into the prediction market industry through a collaboration with Galactic. Their new platform, SI Predict, is set to debut in the second quarter of 2025. Unlike traditional sportsbooks, SI Predict will allow users to trade on the outcomes of “trends and themes” across various sports.
The partnership positions SI Predict as a competitor to established prediction market platforms like Kalshi. It aims to engage fans who want to test their insights on sports events without entering conventional betting environments.

This announcement follows Sports Illustrated’s decision to end its collaboration with 888 Holdings. In September 2024, SI Sportsbook exited Colorado, later ceasing operations in Michigan. Currently, Virginia remains its only active market.
Rather than following the traditional sportsbook model, SI Predict will provide a fresh, interactive experience. Galactic emphasizes that the platform will offer “socially relevant and fun propositions” where fans can showcase their sports knowledge without needing gambling expertise.
“Sports viewership is no longer a one-way conversation,” said Stuart Stott, CEO of Galactic. “Fans want to be involved, and they want their opinions to have weight. SI Predict revolutionizes sports engagement, transforming it from passive viewership to an active, influential forum.”
Prop-style markets will be available on SI Predict for a number of sports, such as hockey, football, golf, and boxing. In order to make well-informed decisions, users can obtain real-time data and engage in “Yes” or “No” forecasts.
