Ryan Gold Appeals NFL Betting Suspension

Arizona Cardinals director of college scouting Ryan Gold has appealed an indefinite NFL suspension tied to confidential 2026 Draft information. His attorney called the allegations “blatantly false”.

Good to Know

  • The NFL said Gold shared material non-public information linked to Arizona Draft picks.
  • Attorney Mike Caspino said Gold did not know the exact selections in advance.
  • The league found no reason to believe any NFL game integrity was affected.

Appeal Focuses on Access to Draft Picks

Caspino said only Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill and General Manager Monti Ossenfort knew the final Draft choices before the event.

“We have demanded an appeal, and we look forward to clearing his good name,” Caspino told ESPN.

Arizona selected Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love with the third overall pick after releasing quarterback Kyler Murray. The team later added Carson Beck, Chase Bisontis and Reggie Virgil.

Love carried +225 odds at BetMGM to go third two days before the Draft. Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey had shorter odds.

The NFL has not identified the person who allegedly received information from Gold. No public evidence has shown whether that person, or anyone connected to them, placed a wager.

Caspino also said Gold did not bet. According to the attorney, the only activity involved $10 weekly parlays placed by the wife of Gold with high school friends.

The NFL suspended Gold last Friday after an investigation under league gambling rules. Gold has worked for Arizona for 13 seasons and became head of college scouting in 2025.

“Although there is no reason to believe the integrity of any NFL game was affected, the league takes any violation of the Gambling Policy with the utmost seriousness,” the NFL wrote.
