A potential new NBA arena could soon be a reality on the Las Vegas Strip, as developers have revealed architectural renderings for a proposed venue. This ambitious project, located on the former Wet n Wild water park site, aims to bring an 18,000-seat arena to the heart of the city. Alongside the arena, the development plans for an entertainment complex that includes multiple hotels, a theater, and convention space.
The proposed development, known as LVXP, would not only house an NBA arena but also feature three hotel and condo towers. The complex will offer a variety of amenities, including a 6,000-seat theater, 120,000 square feet of convention space, and luxurious villas and guest rooms. The towers, designed by Steelman Partners, will incorporate a sleek mix of silver and gold glass, creating a modern and striking exterior.
The arena is set to become a centerpiece of the Strip’s growing sports and entertainment scene. The site, located between the Sahara Casino and the new Fontainebleau Resort, is expected to become a major draw for visitors. CEO James R. Frasure Jr. expressed excitement about the project, stating, “We are honored to be stewards of this significant milestone in the city’s legacy. Our commitment is to create a destination that captures the essence of Las Vegas and provides lasting benefits for the community.”
Before construction can begin, the project still needs approval from Clark County and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the proposed hotel tower. Additionally, the NBA must approve the addition of a Las Vegas franchise. Both LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal have shown interest in owning a team in the city, which continues to be a frequent topic of discussion regarding league expansion.
This potential arena would join other major sports venues already planned for the Strip, including a new MLB stadium for the Oakland A’s and the T-Mobile Arena, home of the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
