NorthStar Gaming to Expand Online Betting Services Across Canada

Share

The Ontario-based NorthStar Gaming is taking calculated steps to expand the reach of its online betting services across the country. The business started offering online gambling in Ontario last year, and as of today, it has obtained licenses that will allow it to do business in every Canadian province and territory. Access to approximately 40 million prospective clients nationwide will be made possible by this expansion.

NorthStar’s CEO, Michael Moskowitz, expressed enthusiasm about this expansion, stating, “We are thrilled to take this groundbreaking step and become a truly national brand. As a Canadian company, we are confident we understand local consumers better than the large international competitors and that we offer a premium experience that best meets their needs. We expect the Canada-wide launch to be an important catalyst that drives growth in our customer base and revenues for years to come.”

Online Sportsbook with Exciting Features

NorthStar is getting ready to launch its online sportsbook, which will include a number of appealing features. This includes up-to-date information for bettors in the form of real-time sports news and statistics. Additionally, the business is dedicated to providing individualized customer care in an effort to improve the entire betting experience.

The attempts of NorthStar to expand are in line with the overall drive to expand the Canadian sports betting sector. Sam Swanell, the CEO of PointsBet Holdings Ltd., hinted in August that Alberta would let operators of private sports betting businesses. The only Canadian province with numerous private-sector suppliers permitted to operate as of April 2022 is Ontario.

Alberta could take into account allowing several providers now that the United Conservative Party is in charge. Currently, PlayAlberta, a government-owned company, is the sole internet provider in the province.

Following strong fiscal Q2 performance in Ontario, NorthStar is well-positioned to profit from an expanded market share. With the help of 47 operators, the province reported a total betting handle of $14.2 billion for the quarter. With 943,000 active player accounts, this achievement helped Ontario generate $540 million in total gaming revenue in the second quarter of 2024. Notably, the second quarter of Ontario’s handling was $11.9 billion from casino gaming and $1.9 billion from sports betting.

By 2026, PwC projects that Canada’s online sports betting and iGaming business will be worth $8.5 billion. The fact that more than 60% of this market is expected to be outside of Ontario means that NorthStar and other operators will have significant expansion potential across the nation.
