As North Carolina gears up for the introduction of its regulated sports betting market, the State Lottery Commission has moved forward by issuing licenses to eight sports wagering operators. Among the latest to receive approval is the Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise, part of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ operations.
The roster of operators granted licenses also features prominent names in the industry, including FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM, DraftKings, Fanatic Sportsbook, bet365, ESPN Bet, and Underdog Sports Wagering.
In a statement released online, the Commission also noted the issuance of two additional provisional supplier licenses, bringing the total to three full licenses for sports wagering supplier, 20 provisional supplier licenses, and three sports wagering service provider licenses as of February 29.
The current state law permits the Lottery Commission to issue up to 12 interactive sports wagering operator licenses, paving the way for a mix of online, mobile, and in-person betting opportunities across North Carolina.
The state will officially launch its sports wagering market on March 11 at noon.
