New York online sports betting started 2026 with familiar momentum. January once again cleared the $2 billion mark, extending a historic run that continues to separate the Empire State from every other US betting market.
Good to Know
The New York State Gaming Commission reported that the eight licensed mobile sportsbooks accepted $2.44 billion in wagers during January. That figure pushed the streak of $2 billion monthly handles to a record six consecutive months.
While handle dipped 1.6 percent year over year, January still ranked as the fourth most wagered month since New York launched online sports betting in 2022. NFL postseason games and the College Football Playoff again anchored betting activity.
Operators combined to generate $250.6 million in gross gaming revenue, a 1.5 percent increase from the prior January. The statewide hold reached 10.3 percent, slightly above the 10 percent rate posted a year earlier. The strong revenue month delivered $127.8 million in tax receipts to the state.
FanDuel continued to lead the market, surpassing $100 million in monthly revenue for the fourth straight time. January revenue reached $113.7 million on an $875.3 million handle. The 13 percent hold declined from December, while handle increased nearly $20 million month over month despite a year over year drop.
DraftKings followed closely, producing $79.7 million in revenue from an $818.3 million handle. Handle rose about $17 million from December but remained nearly $20 million below January 2025 levels.
Fanatics Sportsbook generated $21.5 million in revenue on $223.3 million in wagers, while Caesars posted $11.5 million in revenue from a $160.7 million handle. theScore Bet recorded $54.1 million in wagers, slightly ahead of BetRivers on handle, though BetRivers edged higher on revenue at $4.7 million. January figures for BetMGM were not available at the time of the report.
Momentum carried into early February even without football on the schedule. During the week ending Feb. 1, sportsbooks accepted $510 million in wagers, extending a separate streak of $500 million weekly handles to seven straight weeks. Operators generated $51.6 million in revenue on a 10.1 percent hold, nearly doubling profits from the prior week after bettors fared well during NFL conference championship games.
FanDuel and DraftKings again paced the field. FanDuel nearly doubled weekly revenue while handling $177 million, even as volume dipped from the prior week. DraftKings followed with $17.1 million in revenue from a $167 million handle.
Regulatory adjustments remain on the horizon. The gaming commission recently asked major professional leagues for feedback on player proposition markets, citing integrity concerns tied to NBA and MLB betting scandals. Regulators said they may restrict, limit, or prohibit certain betting options as the review continues.
