March Madness is an annual tradition where 68 different college teams across the USA compete for the title of National Champion in basketball. The eight lowest-ranked teams, four lowest-ranked direct qualifiers and the four lowest-ranked selected teams will compete at the start of March Madness in something called the First Four, in order to make it through to the tournament.
The tournament lasts from March to April, and the National Champion must win six consecutive games in a single-elimination tournament, and seven if they had to compete in the First Four.
