In a united front, 28 Brazilian sports betting companies, 24 of which are organized into organizations, have expressed their worry and disapproval of the alleged manipulation of football events in the country. These businesses are demanding that the authorities conduct a comprehensive investigation into the situation and punish those found responsible.
The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) and the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), which represent 15 and 9 members, respectively, as well as 5 independently responding companies, claim to be victims of this fraud. More than ten players from big football clubs are being investigated by the Goiás Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of Operation ‘Penalidade Máxima II.’ If the players are found guilty, they might face incarceration, penalties, or exclusion from the sport.
Wesley Cardia, CEO of ANJL, stated that the organization believes that tampering with football results affects the sport’s legitimacy in Brazil while also damaging bookmakers and bettors. GaleraBet/PlayTech, Kaizen, Betano, BIG/Ceaser’s Sportsbook, F12, PagBet, BetNacional, Mr. Jack, Primtemps, BetFast, Okto, Aposta Ganha, Liderança Capitalizaço, and Parimatch all expressed their displeasure with such illegal actions and the impact they have on the integrity of results and responsible gaming.
André Gelfi, CEO of IBJR, stated that honesty is one of the organization’s key principles and expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation. Although they have not yet been summoned, they remain willing to collaborate with authorities.
Bet365, Betsson Group, Betway Group, Entain (SportingBet), Flutter (Betfair), KTO Group, Netbet Group, King of the Pitaco, Yolo Group (Sportsbet.io), and Pay4Fun are all members of the IBJR. Representatives from these and other companies have spoken out about the need of investigating individuals guilty for such crimes and the damage they have on the sports betting industry.
CEOs and executives from GaleraBet, Esportes da Sorte, Vai de Bob Apostas Esportivas, and LeoVegas expressed dissatisfaction and alarm over the alleged match tampering. They emphasized that sports betting companies are not the perpetrators, but rather the victims of these illegal activities, which taint the national love of football and have a direct influence on the sector.
Recognizing the serious threat that match-fixing poses to the integrity of competitive sports, LeoVegas representatives emphasized the importance of coordination between sports organizations, gaming firms, and law enforcement authorities in order to prevent, identify, and prosecute match-fixing.
The Brazilian sports betting business is demanding justice and a comprehensive probe into the suspected match manipulation. These companies, along with their organizations, emphasize their dedication to integrity and responsible gaming, with the goal of safeguarding the industry and ensuring a fair and transparent betting environment for everybody.
