Kambi, a renowned provider of sports betting solutions, recently unveiled its Tribal Sports Betting Report for 2024, shedding light on the remarkable surge in betting activity witnessed among its tribal operator partners. The report underscores a significant 128% increase in betting handle among North American tribal clients between 2022 and 2023.
The spike in betting handle is attributed to various factors, notably the growing allure of sports and sports wagering. According to Kambi, land-based customers exhibited a staggering 159% surge in wagers during March Madness 2023. Similarly, the total volume of bets surged by 63%, reflecting heightened enthusiasm among bettors.
March Madness was not the sole event that witnessed a surge in tribal gaming engagement. Handle during the NBA Playoffs soared by 99% compared to 2022, accompanied by a remarkable 145% increase in the number of bets placed.
Basketball emerged as the second most popular sport among tribal bettors, accounting for 27% of all bets. Surpassing football, basketball claimed the lion’s share of the total betting handle, constituting 44% of the overall handle reported by Kambi’s tribal partners. Football, in contrast, accounted for only 19% of the handle.
Baseball secured the third spot, comprising 20% of total bets and 18% of the total handle. Despite facing stiff competition, ice hockey and soccer maintained a respectable share of the betting landscape. Additionally, other disciplines collectively represented 8% of all bets and 13% of the total handle.
The Tribal Sports Betting Report also highlights a significant trend where a substantial portion of tribal betting customers reinvested their winnings promptly. According to the report, 48% of retail and 62% of online customers placed another bet within 10 minutes of winning.
David Bretnitz, Kambi’s Senior Vice President of Sales, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering tribal operators in engaging sports enthusiasts and bettors. He underscored Kambi’s dedication to delivering tailored experiences to attract and retain US bettors, ensuring long-term success for tribal partners.
Kambi’s collaboration extends across various markets, including Arizona, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Ontario, offering a comprehensive suite of solutions to meet the evolving needs of tribal operators.
