DraftKings CEO Sees Growing Momentum for Sports Betting and iGaming Expansion

Share

DraftKings is making steady progress in expanding legal sports betting and online casino gambling across the U.S., according to CEO Jason Robins. Speaking at a Morgan Stanley conference, Robins expressed optimism about the legislative landscape shifting in favor of gaming expansion.

“I feel like we have some real momentum in iGaming now, the first time I’ve felt that way in a few years,” Robins said. He also predicted that “at least a few states” could legalize sports betting or iGaming in the near future.

Legislative Landscape Looks Promising

Robins acknowledged that 2024 was a challenging year for gaming legislation. Many lawmakers were more focused on elections, leaving little room for gambling expansion. The only significant development came from the District of Columbia, which expanded its sports betting market.

With elections now behind them, lawmakers may turn their attention to gaming bills. While Robins didn’t specify which states might move forward with legalization, he remained confident that progress is on the horizon.

“I’m not saying we’ll get a bunch of bills this year,” he noted. “But whereas … two years ago, I would have told you I don’t even know which state is going to be next or how long it’s going to take, I feel now like we are definitely, if not this year, certainly within the next two sessions, going to get some iGaming bills done.”

Although no specific states were named, multiple legislative proposals are currently circulating, increasing the likelihood of new approvals. DraftKings, a major player in the industry, is actively monitoring these developments as it seeks to expand its presence in more regulated markets.

With interest in online gambling and sports betting continuing to grow, DraftKings is positioning itself to capitalize on potential legislative changes in the coming years.
