For Super Bowl LIX, which is scheduled for February 9 in New Orleans, the Oregon Lottery and DraftKings sportsbook are reintroducing betting props with Taylor Swift themes. Swift will play the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. Swift is presently dating Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
DraftKings offers creative betting props like “Shake It Off,” where bettors can choose Philadelphia to score first but Kansas City to win. Another prop, “Deja Vu,” has the Chiefs winning by exactly three points, mirroring their 2023 victory.
Named after Swift’s iconic songs, “Wildest Dreams” requires Kelce to score both the first and last touchdowns of the game.
“The combination of celebrities, funny commercials, and of course, big plays at this event help generate the most interest in sports betting we see all year,” Oregon Lottery Sports Betting Products Manager Kerry Hemphill stated. “The Super Bowl also attracts more casual sports betters who want to take advantage of the fun wagers offered.”
Prop bets extend past the usual betting options. DraftKings offers wagers on the opening coin toss winner, the color of Gatorade to be dumped on the winning coach, and the Super Bowl LIX MVP winner.
Last year, Oregon players placed 382,000 bets through DraftKings during the Super Bowl, totaling $6.9 million, an increase of $1.5 million from the previous year.
Legal sports betting in Oregon began in October 2019, with over $2.6 billion wagered since its inception.
