Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) and NBC Sports have inked a new multi-year deal, extending their partnership beyond 2030. This collaboration, which began in 2001, has been pivotal in broadcasting premier horse racing events to audiences worldwide.

Under the terms of the extended agreement, NBC Sports retains exclusive rights to broadcast the Kentucky Derby, one of the most prestigious events in horse racing, until 2032. Additionally, viewers can catch the action on multiple platforms, including NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and other NBC Universal platforms.

The partnership extension coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Kentucky Derby, adding a new layer of excitement to this historic milestone. CDI CEO Bill Carstanjen expressed enthusiasm for the continued collaboration with NBC Sports, stating, “As we celebrate the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs is proud to extend the relationship with NBC Sports.”

Elevating Horse Racing Coverage

NBC Sports President Rick Cordella echoed Carstanjen’s sentiments, highlighting the network’s commitment to showcasing the rich tradition and excitement of the Kentucky Derby. Cordella emphasized, “As our media partner for the last 23 years, NBC has artfully captured the most exciting two minutes in sports and the spectacle of the senses that surrounds it. Telling the rich stories surrounding the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May is part of the fabric of NBC Sports.”

“We look forward to surrounding the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby with wall-to-wall coverage and extensive promotion on the platforms of NBCUniversal”– he concluded.
