The granting of the license formerly held by Fubo to bet365 by the Arizona Department of gambling is a significant development in the gambling sector. This choice confirms past suspicions and speculative claims that bet365 will enter Arizona and continue to grow throughout the country.
The departure of Fubo Sportsbook, which had a previous working relationship with the Ak-Chin Indian Community, serves as the backdrop to this development. When the parent firm decided to discontinue the Fubo name, Fubo Sportsbook’s Arizona activities came to an end. After a strategic evaluation of the division found that prospective investors would not provide the brand the autonomy it needed, this choice was made.
Fubo’s exit left the Ak-Chin Indian Community without a gambling partner, which opened the door for bet365 to enter the Arizona market. Early sources correctly predicted that either bet365 or Fanatics will receive the old Fubo license.
With the license in hand, bet365 now has a deadline by which to begin operating its gambling business in Arizona. The business must begin operations 180 days after receiving license approval, which was given on August 29.
Two additional sports betting licenses were initially available in Arizona, but no qualified candidates emerged during the application period.
Bet365 is not new to the United States gaming landscape. The company is already operational in five states: Colorado, Iowa, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia. Additionally, it is poised to extend its reach into Kentucky through a partnership with Sandy’s Racing & Gaming, a collaboration between the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and Revolutionary Racing Kentucky.
Earlier this year, bet365 abandoned its pursuit of an online license in Massachusetts. Initially, the operator had forged a partnership with Raynham Park, with hopes of capitalizing on opportunities in the state. However, bet365 ultimately shifted its focus away from these plans, reshaping its strategy in the dynamic US gaming market.
