Svenska Spel recorded its strongest second quarter since Sweden re-regulated gambling in 2019. FIFA World Cup betting, lottery growth and higher online activity lifted net gaming revenue 7% to SEK1.96 billion ($202 million).

Good to Know

  • Operating profit rose 13% to SEK617 million.
  • Online gambling generated 67% of group revenue.
  • June sports betting revenue increased 135%.

World Cup Activity Lifts Online Revenue

Sport & Casino revenue increased 11% to SEK552 million as football betting and casino activity rose during the World Cup. Svenska Spel exceeded its tournament sales target by July 6, almost two weeks before the final.

June brought the strongest customer response. Sport & Casino revenue climbed 24%, active customers rose 36%, and new registrations increased by more than 340%.

“The last month of the quarter was marked by the World Cup, which demonstrates the power of football to bring people together. Svenska Spel has carried out successful activities linked to football, which has created great engagement among customers,” President and Chief Executive Anna Johnson said.

Online revenue increased 14% and represented 67% of group revenue, compared with 62% one year earlier. In contrast, Vegas land based gaming revenue fell 16% to SEK69 million as partner numbers declined and play continued to migrate online.

Lottery products remained the largest source of income. Tur revenue rose 7% to SEK1.34 billion, supported by Eurojackpot and Lotto.

Operating margin improved from 30% to 31%. Pre-tax profit increased 22% to SEK661 million, while profit from continuing operations rose 23% to SEK525 million.

“Svenska Spel delivers a strong quarter. It is the best second quarter since the re-regulation of the gaming market in 2019 with increased net gaming revenue, improved operating profit and strengthened operating margin,” Johnson said.

Total quarterly net profit climbed 52%. A prior year loss from discontinued operations created part of the difference following the sale of the final Casino Cosmopol property in Stockholm.

For the first half of 2026, net revenue rose 4% to SEK3.8 billion and operating profit increased 8% to SEK1.28 billion.

“We have a clear focus on more customers choosing Svenska Spel, and the development during the quarter shows that our priorities are having an effect. We continue to create sustainable growth by improving the customer offering, developing the gaming experience and strengthening our product brands,” Johnson said.
