“If something big or unexpected happens on the field, customers react instantly,” he said. “Our job is to make sure the experience doesn’t change. That’s probably why we’ve got eight people dedicated to it.”
Live betting now dominates Super Bowl action, especially same game parlays and player props. Even niche markets get attention. Coin toss betting stays open until captains meet the referee, while player pricing requires constant recalibration when one play can swing thousands of bet combinations.
“Getting to the right price quickly is a big mantra for us,” Macken said. “Flutter’s scale means we can stay competitive while still being accurate and fair.”
Despite the pressure, Super Bowl Monday brings a sense of shared ownership across the office. Colleagues stop by for coffee, screens stay busy, and everyone watches closely.
“There’s a healthy paranoia,” Macken said. “Everyone wants everything to run perfectly for the Super Bowl.”
As the game ends in the United States, the Melbourne team wraps up late afternoon, often gathering to watch the replay together.
