Battlefield 6 Surpasses Call of Duty in Steam Player Record

Share

The next chapter in the Battlefield series is already breaking records before the beta has even officially begun. As we reported earlier, Battlefield 6 hasn’t yet entered its open beta phase, but that hasn’t stopped more than 40,000 eager players from crowding the server queue. Preload access went live ahead of schedule and immediately overwhelmed EA’s servers, showing just how much demand there is for the game.

Good to know

  • Official open beta runs August 7–10, with a second session August 14–17.
  • Preload access caused queues to exceed 40,000 players before the beta start.
  • The Steam beta peak later hit 521,079 concurrent players, breaking franchise records.

Once the beta period opened, Battlefield 6 soared to a peak of 521,079 concurrent Steam players, the highest in the series’ history. That figure not only smashed the game’s own records but also topped Call of Duty’s all-time Steam high of 491,670. Considering both franchises have large followings outside Steam, this number reflects exceptional interest from PC players.

Developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 6 embraces massive, team-focused battles in destructible environments, bringing back fan-favorite modes like Conquest and Breakthrough. The game is designed for next-gen consoles and high-end PCs, with upgraded visuals, refined mechanics, and a more grounded combat experience compared to recent installments.

October Release and Pre-Orders

The full version of Battlefield 6 launches on October 10, with multiple editions already available for pre-order on Steam. Early access bonuses and additional content are on offer for those securing their copies ahead of time.

With record-breaking beta numbers, server queues in the tens of thousands before launch, and huge anticipation across the FPS community, Battlefield 6 is positioned to be one of the biggest multiplayer releases of 2025.
