Tomoland has raised $2 million to build a mobile-first creator ecosystem that links user-made games, AI tools, and Web3 asset ownership.
Good to Know
Tomoland wants to bring Web3 ownership to creators who already build and play on mobile. The Singapore-announced funding round gives the project $2 million to scale that plan, with Sky9 Capital leading the investment and WAGMI Ventures, Aureus Dealers, and angel investors joining the round.
The project is built on BUD World technology, giving Tomoland access to an existing user-generated content base with more than 30 million downloads across Google Play and the App Store. That gives the team a Web2 audience to build from, instead of trying to grow only inside crypto circles.
Tomoland also brings in experience from Tencent and NetEase veterans. Meanwhile, guidance comes from advisors including Dominic Jang, former Chief Business Officer of MapleStory Universe, and Hazel Zhang from Animoca Brands.
At the center of the product sits the TOMO ownership layer. The on-chain framework lets creators mint, own, license, sell, and trade assets such as maps, game systems, and AI tools. In practice, a player who builds a map can turn it into an on-chain asset rather than giving up control to a centralized platform.
The model takes cues from user-generated content platforms such as Roblox, but adds asset ownership and trading. Tomoland aims to connect creators, players, and in-game assets through that structure, while also using AI tools to make creation easier from mobile devices.
Early demand has already appeared around the project. Tomoland launched the Blueprint Founder Pass NFT on May 7 with 2,222 passes and a one-mint-per-wallet rule. The collection sold out in two hours, appeared on the OpenSea main page, and reached the Top 5 trending collections.
The Founder Pass gives holders access to advanced AI features, ecosystem multipliers, and airdrop boosts. Tomoland presents it as both an early supporter badge and a practical tool for future platform features.
Mobile infrastructure may become the main advantage. BUD World lets users create 3D experiences and games from phones, which helps Tomoland address one of the main barriers for Web3 UGC platforms: reaching players beyond crypto-native users.
